Despite the two being friends, personality-wise, they are polar opposites of each other. Chirrut is a spiritual warrior who, despite not being a Jedi, is a strong believer in the Force. Baze, on the other hand, is more of a “shoot now, think later” kind of guy, and thinks the Force is – as Han Solo put it best once – “a bunch of mumbo jumbo.”
As a fan of the show and as a fan of Oka, this is bittersweet news to take in. Max is a very likeable character who makes it clear that he’s very passionate for his work. I also like how geeky he is for TV shows and movies with cult followings, for Oka never makes that side of Max feel forced, but rather, a natural asset of his being.
In all the hype for new doo-wops from the hooligan, it has me thinking back to something that has been bugging me for quite some time; and that is that I can’t seem to find any footage from when he performed at the ISA LA concert in 2009.

I get why my family members would hold such anger. To have your country invaded like that is a scar marked in your memory. At the same time, it’s not right that they held such prejudices as that. You can’t blame a whole race and/or ethnicity for what certain individuals did. I wouldn’t be able to live with myself with such a narrow outlook on the world.
MULAN, LILO AND STITCH, and BIG HERO 6 are the only Disney films to feature API characters, and so it’s very important to celebrate them by any means necessary. That’s why I want to see more merch with Mulan not just as a member of the Disney Princess club, but also as the great warrior she is seen as in the movie. I want to see something of Lilo that celebrates her unashamed individuality and lovable quirks. I hope to eventually see more products of Hiro that highlights him as the brilliant young robotics genius he is.
It’s funny how something as simple as a drawing can lead to so many similarities between two films, beyond its protagonists. Not to mention it greatly illustrates how API representation is for the win!
Call me optimistic, for I hope I’m being realistic when I say that these commentators should start to seriously reconsider how they do their coverage of the Olympics sooner than later, especially when it comes to their discussion of Asian athletes. It may be barely a week into the Rio Olympics, but I’m already looking ahead at the next Olympic games. Why you ask? Because the next three Olympic games (both summer and winter) are all going to be held in Asia!
CASTLE IN THE SKY sets in stone many themes that would eventually appear in several of Miyazaki’s films as time went on: man’s relationship with nature and technology, headstrong female characters, the power of flight, and ambiguous creatures. The creatures in this case are the robots of Laputa.
There were many panels held throughout the past week at San Diego Comic-Con, and Disney’s upcoming animated film, MOANA, was the subject of one of them. Apart from treating the attendees to a three-minute clip from the film, there was something else revealed to them as well; something regarding the plot.
